Getting verified
Optional, and what makes the rest of the platform worth trusting. It takes about two minutes.
It is optional
Your profile is complete when you have filled in the sections we ask for. Verification is separate: a profile can be 100% complete and unverified, and it appears in matches exactly the same way. You can verify during sign-up, months later, or never.
Two checks, one badge
A government ID - Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence, voter ID or another government photo ID - which we read and check against the name and date of birth on your profile. And a live face check: a few short prompts on camera, confirming that the person setting up the profile is the person in its photos.
Do them in either order, or do just one. They answer different questions and neither waits on the other. The badge appears when both have passed, and it means exactly that. Uploading a profile photo does not earn it.
How long it takes
Seconds, and it finishes on its own - nobody approves you afterwards, and there is no queue to wait in. If a check cannot be decided, you are told why and can try again; if our own systems could not run it, you are told that instead and it does not count against your attempts. You never have to wait on the screen for any of it.
What we keep
The result, not the contents. We compare the name and date of birth printed on your document with your profile and store whether they matched - not what they said. Your document number is never stored and never logged.
It is worth being exact about what a checked document proves. We read it, confirm the printed number has the right shape and passes its checksum, and check that the details agree with your profile. We do not yet ask the authority that issued it whether the document exists - so your verification page says which of the two happened, rather than letting the badge imply the stronger one.
The images stay in private storage. They are never shown to other members, never part of your profile, and never returned by any profile or search request. Staff can open them only with the specific permission to do so, only through a short-lived link, and every time it happens it is recorded against their name.
Additional checks, reviewed by people
Separately from the badge, you can ask our team to review documents for your address, education, employment, income, a family member, or a background certificate such as a police clearance certificate. A person looks at what you upload and approves it or tells you why not. Each one that passes shows on your profile as a tick with the date - never the document itself.
These are reviews of documents you supply. We do not contact your employer, your college or the police, and the background check is not a criminal-records search we run - it means a reviewer found the certificate you obtained to be current and in your name.
If a check does not pass
You are told which check failed and what to do about it - better light, the whole document in frame, no sunglasses - and you can try again. After a few attempts that check pauses for a while, which is a limit on guessing rather than a decision about you: nothing is locked, and you can come back to it. Your profile and photos are untouched either way.
