Child Safety Standards
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation, and for child marriage. Here is how we keep children off the service, how to report a concern, and what we do about it.

01Our commitment
Wrati Matrimony is a service for adults who want to marry. Children have no place on it. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and child marriage, and we act on every report of them.
These standards apply to everyone who uses our website and apps, including members, people who manage a profile for a relative, invited family members, our staff and our partners. They form part of our Terms of Service.
02An adults-only service
Only people of legal age to marry in India may have a profile: at least 21 years for men and 18 years for women, as the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 requires.
- Every profile must give a date of birth. Registration, profile creation and every later change are refused if the date of birth is below these ages, and our database rejects any profile of a person under 18.
- A parent or relative may create a profile only for an adult family member who has agreed to it. Creating a profile for a child, or to arrange a marriage for a child, is forbidden.
- Members can verify their identity with a government ID, which is compared with the date of birth on the profile. We may ask any member for proof of age, and remove the profile if it is not provided.
03What is prohibited
It is forbidden to use the Service to create, upload, share, request or link to:
- any image, video, text or other material that sexualises a child, or depicts a child in a sexual act or sexually suggestive way, whether real, drawn or computer-generated;
- grooming: befriending or contacting a child, or someone believed to be a child, to sexually exploit or abuse them;
- sextortion, or threatening to share intimate images of a child or of anyone who was a child when they were made;
- trafficking of children for sexual exploitation, labour or marriage;
- arranging, promoting or seeking the marriage of a person below the legal age, including an engagement to take place when they come of age;
- profiles, photos or videos of children presented as members.
Photos of a member’s own family that include children are not allowed on profiles either: a profile photo must show the adult member it belongs to.
04How we prevent harm
- Age checks at registration and on every profile change, as described above, with legal minimum ages that cannot be lowered in our settings.
- Photo and video checks. Every photo is checked automatically for quality and for a visible face, and photos the check is unsure about are reviewed by our team. Every video introduction is reviewed by a person before anyone else can see it.
- Message checks. Messages are checked automatically against rules our safety team maintains, including adult content, and matching messages can be blocked or sent to the team for review.
- Reporting and blocking on every profile, photo, video and message, with a dedicated “A child or someone under age” reason.
- Keeping removed people out. Email addresses, phone numbers, devices and network addresses of removed accounts can be blocked from registering again.
- Privacy by default. Contact details are hidden until the member’s privacy rules allow them to be shared, and original photos are stored privately.
05How to report a concern
In the app or on the website
Open the profile, photo, video or message, choose Report, and select “A child or someone under age” (on a video, “Shows or involves a child”). You can add details, and block the member at the same time. Reports are confidential: the member is not told who reported them.
By email
Write to our child safety contact at our support team. Include the member’s profile ID if you have it. Please do not attach or forward abusive images; describe where they are and we will find them.
06What we do when we receive a report
- Child safety reports are marked critical and go to the top of our safety team’s queue, with a target of review within four hours.
- Where a report is confirmed, we remove the material and the profile at once and suspend the account, and we block the person from registering again.
- We preserve the relevant information and report it to the police or the authorities, as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 requires, including through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
- We cooperate with law enforcement requests made under Indian law.
- We tell the person who reported that we have acted, without sharing details that could compromise an investigation.
07Laws we comply with
We comply with the child-protection laws that apply to us, including:
- the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012;
- the Information Technology Act, 2000, including Section 67B on material depicting children in sexually explicit acts;
- the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021;
- the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006; and
- the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the laws of other countries where we make the Service available.
